The London borough of Lewisham lies in South East London and is home to Millwall Football Club aka 'the Lions' and includes districts such as Catford, Brockley, Forest Hill, Nunhead and Ladywell. Famous past residents include Jude Law, W.G Grace, Gary Oldman, Ian Wright and perhaps most famous of all, Louise Redknapp. The borough contains many green spaces and parks with some enviable Lewisham sports facilities on offer.
Examples of sports pitches in Lewishaminclude Mountsfield Park, Ladywell Leisure Centre, Telegraph Hill, Hilly fields, Ladywell Fields and Mayow Park. These Lewisham parks offer most sports such as the Ladywell athletics track, cricket pitches, 11 a side football pitches, public tennis courts. It is particularly worth noting that all the Lewisham council tennis courts are currently completely free to use, although the grass pitches must be hired through Glendale services.
Lewisham school with sports facilities include St Dunstans College which has an excellent selection of playing fields catering for 11 a side football, rugby, cricket and hockey. There are also netball, basketball and tennis courts and they recently purchased ten 5-a-side football pitches. Prendergast School also offers a selection of football pitches and an indoor sports hall as does Forest Hill School which is now open to the community outside of school hours. So if you are looking for sports activities in Lewisham, you are absolutely spoilt for choice in the many parks, schools and leisure centres.
